Program terms
These terms summarize the program rules communicated on this informational website. They are not a rental lease and not a guarantee of assistance.
No guarantee of assistance
Rental approval does not guarantee selection for assistance. Assistance is limited, subject to funding and final verification, and has no cash value payable to the recipient.
How selection works
Five approved applicants are selected each month through the existing Private Property Management approval system. The monthly random selection is administered by multiple authorized property-management staff members. Applicants do not complete a separate Welcome Home assistance application.
Covered expenses
If a selected recipient accepts the offer, the recipient pays 85% of the first month's base rent. Catholic Charities USA pays the remaining 15% of first month's base rent directly to Private Property Management, up to a maximum contribution of $500.
Security deposits, application charges, utilities, late charges, and other fees are not covered.
Direct payment, not cash to the renter
The nonprofit contribution is paid directly to Private Property Management. Both the recipient payment and the nonprofit contribution are recorded separately on the tenant ledger.
If move-in does not occur
If move-in fails after nonprofit funds are sent, those funds are returned to the nonprofit and an alternate recipient may be selected.
24-month limit
A household may receive the assistance only once in any 24-month period.
Ordinary rental standards
Participation or nonparticipation in the assistance program does not change the ordinary rental approval standards. The ordinary rental application and its normal approval process occur on the existing Private Property Management website.
Availability
The program applies to participating properties managed by Private Property Management throughout the United States, subject to available funding and final verification.
Fair access
The program is open to approved applicants regardless of religion or religious participation.
