Answers below follow the stated program rules. This website does not accept applications.
Is a separate assistance application required?
No. Applicants do not complete a separate Welcome Home assistance application. An ordinary rental application and its normal approval process occur on the existing Private Property Management website.
Does rental approval guarantee assistance?
No. Rental approval does not guarantee selection for assistance. Assistance is limited, subject to funding and final verification.
How much assistance is provided?
A selected recipient who accepts the offer pays 85% of the first month's base rent. Catholic Charities USA pays the remaining 15% of first month's base rent directly to Private Property Management, up to a maximum contribution of $500.
What expenses are covered?
The program contribution applies only to first month's base rent. Security deposits, application charges, utilities, late charges, and other fees are not covered.
Who conducts the selection?
Five approved applicants are selected each month through the existing Private Property Management approval system. The monthly random selection is administered by multiple authorized property-management staff members.
Can a selected applicant decline?
Yes. A selected recipient receives an offer and may accept or decline it.
How is the nonprofit contribution paid?
Catholic Charities USA pays the remaining 15% of first month's base rent directly to Private Property Management, up to $500. The contribution is not paid as cash to the recipient. Both the recipient payment and the nonprofit contribution are recorded separately on the tenant ledger. Assistance has no cash value payable to the recipient.
What happens if move-in does not occur?
If move-in fails after nonprofit funds are sent, those funds are returned to the nonprofit and an alternate recipient may be selected.
Can a household receive assistance again?
A household may receive the assistance only once in any 24-month period.
Is Catholic faith or religious participation required?
No. The program is open to approved applicants regardless of religion or religious participation.
Where can someone begin the ordinary rental process?
On the Private Property Management website: https://privatepropmanagement.com/.
